release of the 1940 Census. When I found my mom as a little girl in Schenectady, New York, and my dad as a young boy in Lowell, Massachusetts, it was as if I had a small window into what their lives were like in the period between the Great Depression and the war that would soon change the world around them.

We also added more than 2 billion historical records from across the globe. 
To celebrate our most amazing year yet, we're inviting you to uncover your family's stories free in featured collections from 2012. You'll meet military heroes, reveal on-the-job details, discover church records and learn countless more specifics. 
We may be a family history company, but we spend most of our time thinking about the future. So rest assured there's even more to come in 2013. We hope you'll join us.
