Dear researchers,

Today it is indeed a very
special pleasure for me to thank Franz Spevacek for his many years of
contributing to GenTeam. He has so far provided the unimaginable amount
of one million records - from more than 500 books. Following his work on
the indices of many church registers from the Waldviertel, he continued
with his native parish of St. Anton von Padua in the 10th district of
Vienna. He then proceeded with the Viennese parish of Lichtental and is
now working on the baptismal registers of the Lower Austrian Provincial
Maternity Home (NÖ Landesgebäranstalt) in Alservorstadt, Vienna.
Starting with the year 1900 (which alone has 9,512 baptisms), Mr.
Spevacek has now reached the year 1825, making for a total of 440,000
records.

ABOUT THIS UPDATE

Twelve years ago, GenTeam went
online with a total of 1.3 million records. Meanwhile, this number has
grown to more than 21 million.

I would like to take this
opportunity to thank everyone who has provided GenTeam with data or has
contributed to long-term projects over the past twelve years, and all
those who have been working behind the scenes to ensure that GenTeam
functions properly and continues to expand.

GenTeam is a European
platform connecting historians and genealogists who work on their own or

DETAILS ON THIS UPDATE

1     NEW: HOUSE OWNERS IN LOWER AUSTRIA

APPROXIMATELY 1751- 1755

>From 1751 onwards, the first
comprehensive registration of plots and house ownership was carried out
in the Austrian crown lands.

WITH THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF THE
LOWER AUSTRIAN PROVINCIAL ARCHIVES, it was now possible to gather all
Lower Austrian house owners on the basis of the “Rustikalfassionen” (tax
return for peasants' land) and put this information online on GenTeam.

Together with the first name(s) and the surname of the house owner,
the following details are available on GenTeam: the “Viertel” (district)
the house belongs to, the respective number of the overall more than
1,700 “Fassionen” (declarations), the name of the estate the house is
subject to, the book number, (the land register number), the page of the
“Fassion”, as well as the locality or house name.

Records for the
“Gaisruck Fassion” covering the sovereign cities of Lower Austria will
soon be added.

Note: The Lower Austrian Provincial Archives will
continually put the “Fassionen” online on their finding aid “Findbuch”.

2     MILITARY – AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN CASUALTY LISTS OF WORLD WAR
I 1914- 1919

Once again, numerous lists and parts of lists have
been put online.

The casualty lists enumerate the wounded and
killed soldiers as well as the prisoners of war of all Crown Lands of
the Habsburg monarchy. In their entirety, these lists will hold
approximately 3 to 3.5 million names. They include officers and one-year
volunteers, but also subordinated military personnel of all
denominations, including Jewish, Muslim and Protestant soldiers.

Sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to this important
database, all those who are already working on further lists, as well as
Frank Raschka for managing this project.

I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE
YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS FASCINATING PROJECT. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED,
PLEASE CONTACT THE PROJECT MANAGER FRANK RASCHKA AT
VERLUSTLISTE at GMAIL.COM [3] OR KONTAKT at GENTEAM.AT [4]. WE WILL THEN SEND
YOU A SAMPLE ENTRY TABLE AND ASSIGN YOU A LIST NUMBER.
